Happy April Fool's Day

In most Tarot decks, the Fool card is the first card of the Major Arcana, signifying the beginning of a journey, particularly our journey through life.   The number assigned to the Fool card is zero.  Zero represents many things, including the infinite circle of life.

In terms of love, the Fool card represents the inner fear that we have about falling in love.  To fall in love, means risking being hurt.  If we’ve already been burnt by love, then surely we would have to be a fool to walk through the fire again.   But walk we must, if we are to live life to the fullest.

In the Universal Waite Deck (the deck I use), the Fool is perched precariously at the end of a cliff.   Yes, it’s true, you could fall off the cliff by taking a step forward.  But if you stay too long in the safety zone, you might wake up one day to see that life and love have passed you by.

True love calls for us to take a great leap of faith, hoping that our beloved will be there with open arms waiting to catch us.

Falling in love calls for us to surrender to its power.  It calls for us to stop trying to control everything.  To let go and let God.  Foolish to surrender?  Hardly.  Courageous?  Absolutely!

Go on, take a chance today.  Be a fool.  Risk rejection.  Have some fun.  Speak from your heart.  Talk to that person you’ve been wanting to.  If you’re already in love, but haven’t said the words — say them.   Is there someone you need to say you’re sorry to?  Call them and say those healing words.  Share what’s in your heart.  Is there someone you would like to get closer to, but are afraid to?  Then go for it.  Express yourself.  Be yourself.  Tell the truth.

Are you ready to make a fool of yourself?  Then embrace today and do it!

Take a baby step toward love.  Better yet, take a giant leap of faith.  Run toward love, not away.  Go ahead, what do you have to lose?  Perhaps, your fear of rejection.  All human beings house the primal fear of rejection deep within.  Overcoming this fear is one of the great karmic lessons we’ve incarnated to learn.   We can’t overcome our fears if we continually hide from them.

So what if you end up looking like a fool???  In life, we usually end up regretting what we didn’t do, not what we’ve done.

If you’ve been trading happiness for security, try stepping outside of your comfort zone for a change.  Trust me, you’ll survive.

Remember — fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

Let me know what chances in love you’ve been taking.

“If a man would persist in his folly, he would become wise.”

(William Blake)
