Goodbye, Howard, and say, "Hello, to TS Eliot for me!"

I had only met Howard O’Brien  less than five months ago.  He was a childhood friend of my Soul Mate, TJ Clemente.  We had a fascinating night talking about mythology, religion, TS Eliot, literature, and our passion — playwriting.  Both Howard and I are not only writers, but playwrights as well.  I couldn’t believe how exciting it was to talk about our feelings and experiences with the world of playwriting.  That night forever changed TJ’s vision of me, since he had never heard me talk in such depth about the world of literature.  Howard and I became fast friends, and the next week he sent me a fascinating book all about “The Holy Grail.”

Little did I know that that dinner that Howard so generously treated us all to at Bobby Van’s would be not only our first supper together, but the Last Supper as well. Just days later he learned he was terminally ill with cancer.

Today is his memorial and may he find comfort in the afterlife.  Howard, I’d love to talk to you, more about writing and literature and poetry, so you know that I can hear you, so talk on!!!

Howard, you will be missed on the earth plane.  May you rest in peace.  Until we meet again…
