This past Sunday, I was blessed to be at the NY Theosophical Society psychic fair reading Tarot cards. It was a very synchronous day to be giving spiritual readings in Manhattan with the Pope just twenty blocks away, and it also being the advent of Passover. It was wonderful to see so many old friends and clients, and to meet many new ones as well. I was very touched by all the good wishes and support concerning the publication of my book. I look forward to the book signing and to the many workshops I will be conducting there.
Throughout the day, which was a beautiful, springtime mixture of clouds and sun, I would look out into the garden and see a sign post which read, “May Peace Prevail on Earth.”
This weekend had been hectic — taking me from seemingly two ends of the earth — from the East End (which is just beginning to show signs that summer is around the corner) to Manhattan. On Friday afternoon, I had headed out to East Hampton to do some Tarot readings and to go to an artist dinner in East Hampton with my good friends, Judy McDowell and her husband Michael (who is an incredible artist). I also needed to thank her for the above video that she had just emailed me, “Hevenu Shalom Aleinu” which means We Brought Peace Upon Us. This video is also known as “Ma Ana Ajmal Min Salam” which means There is Nothing More Beautiful Than Peace.
Again, this video came at a sychronous moment in time, since I had just finished doing an interview for Middle Eastern Dance Leaders Society, which is an organization of Middle Eastern Dancers founded by my dear friend in dance, Amara Al Amir a/k/a Marion Sole. Over the years, our dance troupe had performed in a wide range of venues, including universities, parks, and even Lincoln Center. I am proud to be a member of MEDLS since it is dedicated to “preserving cultures of the world; retaining heritage, contributing to a better understanding of other cultures, enhancing communication, respect, and peace among the peoples of the world.” I am honored to have been chosen to receive the member of the month award because of my book, and its life-confirming message of love, peace, and respect for all humanity.
The video Judy emailed and the interview for MEDL both made me want to pick up my zils (finger cymbals) and dance, and so I did. Please put on this video and dance with me for world peace.
Then take some time to meditate on this thought: the angel Gabriel appeared to Moses when he was a young boy before he became the leader of the Israelites. Gabriel also appeared to the Virgin Mary telling her that she had been chosen to be the mother of the Son of God. Gabriel also appeared to the prophet Mohammad to instruct him on the writing of the Koran.
The Talmud teaches that Gabriel is the only angel who can speak every language. Shalom. Salam. Shanti. Namaste. Peace. In any language it sounds beautiful doesn’t it?
I believe that a statue of the angel Gabriel should grace Ground Zero — reminding all of us that although paths are many, truth is one.
Happy Earth Day!

It is indeed an honor to interview Shana aka Cindy as our honored MEDLS Member of the Month. The blog will post soon, sign up for our enewsletter on http://www.medls.org.
This warms my heart and illustrates how art and culture can bring divergent worlds together.
