What is Your “1 Thing”? What is Your Life’s Work Really About?

I was recently asked to describe what my life mission is in one short sentence, and then to elaborate briefly on why I do what I do, and who can benefit most from my life’s mission.
Wow… this assignment really got me thinking. How could I possibly pitch my whole, life’s mission in a Tweet-sized, #statement? The example I was given to aid me in this lofty assignment was this: Buddha once said, when asked about his life’s work – “I teach 1 thing and 1 thing only. Suffering, and the end of suffering.”

I thought about this challenging assignment for almost a week. I meditated on it, sweated it out, ruminated on it, and finally, this morning, I woke up with the answer to this harder-than-you-think challenge. Here goes: I teach 1 thing and 1 thing only: #Soul Mate Love, and how to #manifest and #keep it.

My larger mission, ultimately, is world peace, and I believe we can achieve world peace: one Soul Mate couple at a time.

Toward this goal of world peace, I have counseled thousands of people in the ways of love, and spent 6 years writing two self-help relationship books: Grant Me a Higher Love and Why Good People Can’t Leave Bad Relationships.

Obviously, I’m love-obsessed. The first book deals with understanding what a Soul Mate actually is, since there are a lot of myths and urban legends surrounding this topic. In a nutshell, Soul Mates are first and foremost a spiritual partnership in which two people agree to help each other grow and evolve as human beings.

Soul Mates love each other with their entire hearts, souls, minds, and bodies, and they commit to their love and commit to the healing that this great love demands. These couples tend to bring out the best in each other and the best in everyone around them, as they go about their conjoined lives spreading love, joy, and peace wherever they go.

My second relationship book deals with what I call Cellmates or toxic love relationships. Anger and fear fuel these relationships and couples engaging in these destructive affairs teach their children and the world, hatred, sorrow, and – war. These relationships keep people trapped in their dysfunctional ways of behaving, and they bring out the worst in each other. They often end in a courtroom, jail, emergency room, or morgue.

What I hope to teach the world is this simple truth: Soul Mates, who work at maintaining their relationship, are beacons of love and light that help us all take a giant leap toward world peace, as we see the power of love in action. Children, born to Soul Mate couples, will know the peace inherent in true love. As grown-ups, they won’t be interested in waging war, for they have borne witness to two people who solve their differences in loving, generous, compassionate, and kind ways.

I never underestimate the importance of human love affairs, and I truly believe that every time I help a couple come together, stay together, and heal their issues, I am doing my small part to make this planet a safer, saner, more peaceful place to inhabit.

Now, that I have put my mission down on paper – it’s your turn to take on the challenge and put it in a tweet-sized package: What is your “1 Thing”? What’s your life’s work really about? What are you trying to teach through your words and deeds, and how do lives change when you do what you do best, for those who need it most?
When you come up with your one sentence mission – Tweet it! Let’s get the peace train going today – one positive Tweet at a time.
Thank you, Ian, from FamousPsychicMediums.com, for this great, mind-expanding assignment! I like paying it forward!
